ByteDance's Pico division unveiled Project Swan as their next-generation flagship headset, directly challenging Apple Vision Pro at a potentially lower price point. The headline spec is a micro-OLED display exceeding 4,000 pixels per inch — surpassing even the Vision Pro's already impressive panels. Average angular resolution hits 40 pixels per degree (PPD) with peaks of 45 PPD.
Project Swan uses a dual-chip architecture combining custom XR silicon with a standard SoC, delivering double the compute and graphics performance of Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2. Latency is rated at approximately 12 milliseconds. The headset runs Pico OS 6 with a new Spatial Engine, and a global early access program is already available for developers.
