gated
The official WebXR ride. Press Start checks the signed candidate, beta access, and this device before offering a mode.
in-progress
Staged voice and generative workspace. Source surfaces are visible at /studio; runtime, provider, and output proof remain separate gates.
available
iCal feed of upcoming VR/AR/XR releases. Subscribe at /the-future and your calendar gets every announcement.
gated
Documentation and adapter source are available. Account consent, Drive connection, and runtime commissioning are still required before storage is usable.
★ This week
Assembling the PREBETA-01 candidate without promoting it.
This week the shared capability contract, guest-first product map, native shells, and representative first-flight ride are being verified as one exact candidate. Hosted previews are evidence artifacts; commissioning, real-device acceptance, sealing, and production promotion remain separate gates.
Step toward a browser-born VR world where Eddie can ride beside you, understand the site you came from, and grow with new hardware. Press Start checks this exact beta candidate and offers only the modes it can honestly support today.

What it is
VR Eddie's experience is one evolving WebXR product with presentation modes that are accepted separately. Press Start checks the signed candidate, this browser, beta access, and the evidence for this device before it offers a mode.
Quest, Vision Pro, desktop, and mobile are separate evidence classes. Success on one never claims support for another.
No store install on a supported web path. A URL starts the check; it does not guarantee immersive mode, passthrough, input, performance, Eddie, storage, or compute. Unsupported and unverified paths stay unavailable with a readable return route.
What you can do
01 · CARVE
The beta is building toward a ride that can meet your space. Room-aware and passthrough modes remain gated until the current candidate proves them safely.
02 · INPUT
Controllers, hands, gaze, keyboard, gamepad, and touch are separate capability checks. The launch never treats one successful mode as proof of another.
03 · OPEN
Built on Three.js and the W3C WebXR interfaces, with a readable browser fallback when immersive entry is unavailable.
04 · NO INSTALL
The supported web path needs no store install. Press Start still verifies the release channel, invitation, candidate, and device before entry.
05 · PERFORMANCE
Performance targets are not public benchmarks. Named-device evidence, reduced-motion behavior, and truthful fallback must pass for each accepted candidate.
06 · LIVE BUILD
A new build does not inherit acceptance. Each candidate is sealed, tested, reviewed, and promoted through a signed record before Press Start can select it.
Where it runs
Candidate check required
Immersive, passthrough, controller, and hand-input states are shown only when the accepted candidate proves them on this hardware.
Candidate check required
Spatial presentation and input remain explicit beta evidence gates; unsupported modes fall back or stay unavailable.
Candidate check required
Handheld WebXR AR entry and placement appear only when the accepted candidate proves them on a certified device; uncertified phones get the honest camera fallback and install guidance.
Native AR lanes
Safari has no WebXR, so AR runs through Apple's lanes — Quick Look today, the App Clip when the candidate and console setup prove it; the browser keeps the touch 3D ride.
Browser fallback evaluated
Keyboard, mouse, gamepad, browser, and rendering support are checked on the exact candidate rather than promised across every desktop.
Touch fallback evaluated
Mobile browser and touch usability are candidate-specific and appear only when the launch gate has current support evidence.
How to play
1 · Press Start
The website checks the signed release channel, your beta access, and the exact candidate before creating a short-lived handoff.
2 · Choose Tutorial or Fly Now
When the candidate offers these paths, the tutorial explains the controls that this device actually exposed. Unavailable paths stay unavailable.
3 · Enter the supported mode
Immersive entry appears only after a runtime capability check. A readable browser presentation and return path remain available when the candidate supports them.
Primer
WebXR is the open web standard that lets a browser request an immersive presentation when the browser and hardware expose it. VR Eddie checks that capability at runtime; a brand or device name alone is never treated as proof.
Mixed reality can blend digital content with a real room, but passthrough, spatial access, and input permissions vary by browser and candidate. Those modes stay visibly gated until device evidence and consent are present.
We built this lab to test the limits of browser-delivered XR with real product art, real physics, and a real character rig. Expect updates as new headsets ship and as the WebXR spec matures.
Heads up
This is an unsealed pre-beta candidate, not a universal compatibility promise. Review supported hardware and known limitations before launch. If something breaks, use the private problem-report flow so diagnostics remain off unless you explicitly preview and add them.
VR Eddie Labs is where we develop the experiments — WebXR demos, new tracks, and candidate-specific modes. Subscribe for release updates. No spam, and no store install on a supported web path.
