VR Headset Setup
Everything you need to go from unboxing to your first VR session. Follow the 7 steps below and you will be up and running in about 30 minutes.
Remove the headset, controllers (if included), and cables from the box. Inspect all components for damage. Keep the packaging until you have confirmed everything works correctly.
Charge the headset and controllers using the included cables until the indicator lights show a full charge. A first-time full charge usually takes one to two hours. Avoid using the headset at low battery during setup.
Visit the manufacturer's website or app store and download the companion app or desktop software. Create an account if prompted. The software is needed for pairing, firmware updates, and accessing the content store.
Follow the companion app or software prompts to pair the headset via Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi. Accept any firmware updates that are offered — they often fix early bugs and improve tracking accuracy.
Put on the headset and adjust the straps so it sits comfortably on your face without pressing too hard on your cheeks or forehead. Adjust the IPD (inter-pupillary distance) if your headset supports it until the image is sharp in both eyes.
Follow the on-screen instructions to define your play space. Clear the area of obstacles, mark your boundary, and confirm the floor level. A well-lit room with minimal reflective surfaces provides the best tracking.
Once setup is complete, try a built-in tutorial or demo to learn the controls. Most headsets include a free introduction app that walks you through navigation, controller use, and basic interactions.
