Meta Quest Setup
Everything you need to go from unboxing to your first VR session. Follow the 7 steps below and you will be up and running in about 30 minutes.
Plug in the included USB-C cable and charge your Meta Quest headset to at least 50%. Insert AA batteries into both Touch controllers. A full charge takes roughly two hours and gives you about two hours of play time.
Install the Meta Horizon app on your phone (iOS or Android). Sign in with your Meta account or create one. The app is required for initial pairing, software updates, and managing your game library.
Open the Meta Horizon app, tap 'Devices', and select your headset model. Follow the on-screen prompts to pair via Bluetooth. Once paired the headset will download the latest firmware — keep it plugged in during this step.
Put on the headset and tighten the side straps and top strap until snug but comfortable. Adjust the inter-pupillary distance (IPD) by sliding the lenses left or right until the image is sharp. The Quest supports three IPD settings (58 mm, 63 mm, 68 mm).
The headset will ask you to draw a play boundary on the floor using your controller. Trace around any obstacles (furniture, walls) to create a safe zone. You can choose Stationary mode for seated play or Roomscale for full movement.
In the headset, navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to your home network. The system will check for updates automatically. Accept any pending updates and wait for them to install — this ensures you have the latest features and security patches.
Once setup is complete you will land in the Quest Home environment. Open the Meta Quest Store to browse and install apps. Try a free experience like First Steps to learn the controllers, or jump straight into your first game.
