It's been one of the most eventful weeks VR has seen so far in 2026 — and that's saying something. We got a stacked VR Games Showcase, a Meta drama that had the whole community talking, a system update with some genuinely useful features, and a deal that makes the Meta Quest 3S one of the best purchases in consumer tech right now. Let me break it all down.
VR Games Showcase March 2026: The Biggest Reveals
The VR Games Showcase returned on March 24th and it did not disappoint. Nearly two dozen games were featured, with a mix of major franchise reveals, indie surprises, and concrete release windows. Here are the highlights:
Payday: Aces High — VR Goes Heist Mode
The single biggest announcement of the showcase was Payday: Aces High, a brand-new VR-exclusive entry in the beloved co-op heist franchise, developed by Fast Travel Games (the studio behind Cities: VR and Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice). This is a four-player co-op heist game where you and three friends take on the role of four distinct "Aces" — a tactical mastermind, a silent ghost, a gadget wizard, and a hard-hitting enforcer — to take revenge on a corrupt business tycoon who framed you.
The VR treatment makes perfect sense for Payday's DNA. Physically grabbing cash bags, sneaking through laser grids, using hand-tracked gadgets on security panels — it's the kind of game that feels like it was made for VR. Fast Travel has a strong track record here, and the Q3 2026 window (July–September) on Meta Quest and SteamVR is very achievable. This is my most anticipated VR game of 2026.
Compass — Open World Airship Adventure
Compass is an open-world adventure set in floating sky landscapes, where you pilot and upgrade your airship, use grappling tools to solve environmental puzzles, and explore a genuinely beautiful fantastical world. It's arriving Spring 2026 on Quest, SteamVR, and PS VR2. The trailer looked visually stunning and the genre — relaxed exploration with light puzzle-solving — is underserved in VR. One to watch.
Other Noteworthy Reveals
The Boys: Trigger Warning launched March 26 for Meta Quest 3 — if you're a fan of the show, this is a day-one purchase. Forefront, the 32-player Battlefield-style VR shooter, locked in its 1.0 release for April 23. Twenty One Pilots finally joined Beat Saber with "Stressed Out" dropping March 26 (the Quest music game library just keeps growing). Wrath: Aeon of Ruin – Brutal Edition hits Quest, SteamVR, and PS VR2 on April 9. And Dimensional Double Shift got a major content expansion dropping April 23.
